Epoxy Bonding

In order for epoxy bonding to work, one must combine resin with an agent that helps in hardening to create the bond strong as desirable. Until the past few years, most of the adhesives were so adept for bonding two distinct materials with each other, such as wood with metal or bonding in materials known as non porous such as glass. However, with the man made material used in epoxies, both kind of jobs now can be done with lots of convenience and ease. Usually, in many cases, while banking an adhesive for epoxy bonding, you should not combine two parts with each other unless you’re ready to put them to use. Most of them are also thermally activated, that means heat is needed in order for them to create strong bonds.

The first ever epoxy bonding experiment was demonstrated in 1936, by both O. Greenlee from the (U.S) United States and from Switzerland Dr. Pierre Castan. However, due to the passage of time, many enhancements have been made in this field of epoxy bonding and many adhesives can now be found for use at homes or in industries. Famous examples of epoxy bonding adhesives are Super Glue, Gorilla Glue, and Krazy Glue. Epoxy bonding is commonly employed for non porous materials like broken glass or even bonding fiber like optic cables. Epoxy bonding adhesives are not very bulky, they are lightweight and adapt easily to surface of materials which are to be bonded. Hence, this characteristic of epoxy bonding adhesives makes them a popular choice for usage at homes and in workplaces and offices, as they’re manufactured to last a longer period of time.

Great caution must be exercised while using adhesives for epoxy bonding; you must make sure that you choose the correct adhesive for your job. If you use a wrong type of adhesive, it can actually cause damages that are permanent to the thing that you’re trying to fix or repair. You must also make very sure that the area wherever you’re going to apply the epoxy bonding adhesive is clean and also it should be free from all kinds of debris and dirt just to ensure that it doesn’t infiltrate the adhesive. Great care must be taken so that the epoxy bonding adhesive does not come into contact with your skin, as it bonds almost immediately and becomes very hard to remove. Some types of epoxy bonding also produce so much heat that it can cause whatever you’re trying to repair to actually break, bend or crack. Hence, great care must be taken while choosing the type of adhesive for epoxy bonding that you’re going to carry out.
